During the Active Shooter Preparedness course, participants will learn evidence-based techniques and strategies on how best to prepare for and respond to an active shooter incident. The course will also provide information on how best to conduct drills, develop a plan and work together to ensure staff, teachers and children are best prepared.

This is an Overview/Introductory This is a training for Teaching Staff, Administration/Leadership Staff, Family Child Care Providers, Prospective Providers or Students, Faculty.
Prior Knowledge of experience needed:

This training will cover:
  • Health, Safety, and Nutrition: Learning ObjectivesDescribe the ways to increase security within your childcare program.Summarize at least two lessons learned from previous mass shooting incidents.Explain how to conduct effective active shooter drills.Describe at least one method of keeping children calm and quiet.Define common characteristics of mass shooters.Describe the 3 different response actions which can be used during a violent event.

Participants must attend the whole training in order to receive credit.
Zoom link will be emailed a day before the training. Please note that there is a 15-minute grace period to receive full credit
