Play is a vital component of childhood development and keeping children safe is a priority. We will explore ways to promote and support outdoor play with and without playground structures. Participants will learn about playground equipment including how to:
• identify what playground equipment is safe and potentially hazardous.
• promote and support outdoor play with or without playground structures.
• reduce the likelihood of life threatening or debilitating injuries.

This is an Overview/Introductory training for Teaching Staff, Administration/Leadership Staff, Family Child Care Providers, Prospective Providers or Students, Family, Friend, and Neighbor Care Providers.
Prior knowledge or experience needed:
- None
This training will cover:
- Health, Safety, and Nutrition: Participants will learn about playground equipment including how to: • identify what playground equipment is safe and potentially hazardous. • promote and support outdoor play with or without playground structures. • reduce the likelihood of life threatening or debilitating injuries.
Early learning standards/foundations:
- Infant Care (Birth - 18 Months)
- School Age/Elementary (Kindergarten - 6th grade)
- Toddler Care (19 - 36 Months)
- After-School/Out-of-School Time
- Preschool (3 - 5 Years)
- Transitional Kindergarten (4 - 5 Years)
