Something to Smile About - Oral Health explores how to include oral health in daily activities to prevent tooth decay and other disorders that limit the ability to bite, chew, smile, and talk.
Participants will discover strategies on how to include oral health in daily activities by understanding how tooth decay develops and how it is prevented; exploring diseases and disorders that limit the ability to bite, chew, smile, and talk; discovering ways to teach children about oral health; finding out about San Diego County community resources that support children’s oral health.

This is an Overview/Introductory training for Teaching Staff, Family Child Care Providers, Prospective Providers or Students, Family, Friend, and Neighbor Care Providers.

This training will cover:
- Health, Safety, and Nutrition: Participants will discover strategies on how to include oral health in daily activities by: understanding how tooth decay develops and how it is preventedexploring diseases and disorders that limit the ability to bite, chew, smile, and talk discovering ways to teach children about oral healthfinding out about San Diego County community resources that support childrens oral health
Early learning standards/foundations:
- Infant Care (Birth - 18 Months)
- Toddler Care (19 - 36 Months)
- Preschool (3 - 5 Years)
