This 8-hour course is California EMSA approved and meets all the requirements of AB 243 and SB 1524 for Preventative Health and Safety (includes the 2016 Nutrition and 2019 Lead Updates) for California Childcare Providers, Preschool Teachers and Aides. Pediatric Health and Safety course includes; Infectious Disease, Injury Prevention, Immunizations, Child Abuse- Identification and Prevention, Care of Mildly Ill Children, Communicable Disease, Universal Precautions, Age Appropriate Toys and Activities, Emergency Preparedness, Poisoning, Children’s Nutrition, Liability Issues, and SIDS. Also included is information for best business policies and practices for home based childcare providers.

This is an Overview/Introductory training for Teaching Staff, Administration/Leadership Staff, Family Child Care Providers, Prospective Providers or Students, Family, Friend, and Neighbor Care Providers.
Prior knowledge or experience needed:
- None
This training will cover:
- Health, Safety, and Nutrition: Participants will learn best practices regarding: • providing a clean and sanitary environment to protect children''s health. • safe and healthy diapering. • understanding the role that immunizations play in a child’s health and maintaining required documentation. • developing sick children policies. • developing safety policies and using them as tools for safety, risk prevention and injury prevention.
Early learning standards/foundations:
- Infant Care (Birth - 18 Months)
- School Age/Elementary (Kindergarten - 6th grade)
- Toddler Care (19 - 36 Months)
- After-School/Out-of-School Time
- Preschool (3 - 5 Years)
- Transitional Kindergarten (4 - 5 Years)

24-HOURS PRIOR TO THE EVENT YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL FROM YMCA STAFF WITH THE ZOOM LOGIN INFORMATION. IT IS SPECIFIC TO YOU AND PLEASE DO NOT SHARE WITH ANYONE ELSE.
This training will held over the course of FOUR DAYS, 2 HOURS EACH. To receive credit/certificate YOU MUST ATTEND ALL DATES:
1. Tuesday 11/7/23
2. Thursday 11/9/23
3. Tuesday 11/14/23
4. Thursday 11/16/23
It is recommended join 15-minutes before the start time. Once the training starts trainers will NOT be able to assist. The training closes 10-minutes after the start time, late arrivals will not be admitted - to secure your spot, be on time.
