GOALS OF THE WORKSHOP
This workshop will help participants to:
• Describe the strong protective urges of adults and how they respond to children’s needs
• Examine the three caregiver qualities that parents identify as most important: understanding, competency, and honesty
• Practice the skill of using the Acknowledge-Ask-Adapt process with families to develop stronger relationships
• Define culture and how it influences the young child’s identity formation and sense of self
• Identify strategies to support the child’s home culture in the childcare setting
